Tavve Releases ZoneRanger®4.1

ZoneRanger® 4.1Provides Comfort that
Your Network is Working Across All Zones

Research Triangle, NC (October 24, 2006) - Tavve has released version 4.1 of its popular network management appliance, ZoneRanger®.  Deploying ZoneRanger® allows users to secure network traffic across all zones of the network.  Working with key security and management applications from major developers like Cisco Systems, Juniper Networks, Nortel, and others, the features in ZoneRanger®4.1 enable the user to securely manage the network environment in a simple and cost-effective solution.

"The latest release allows users to manage large numbers of ZoneRangers, perform TFTP requests securely, proxy SSH, and support TACACS+,” reported Anthony Edwards, CISSP, Tavve’s Chief Technology Officer. “These enhancements only add to the already popular network appliance that is solving the conflict between effective network/systems/security management and security policy.”

New ZoneRanger® 4.1 Features

Secure TFTP Proxy  --  ZoneRanger® 4.1 gives users tight control over TFTP requests coming and going between a data center server and a unsecure network zones. This is especially important when integrating with CiscoWorks.

TACACS+ support  --  Users can centrally manage the ZoneRanger® login IDs and passwords from a TACACS+ server.

Command Line Interface (Fleet Management Enablement)  --  In ZoneRanger® 4.1, a command line interface was added to allow configuration via an automated process from a central server.  The command line is similar to that of Cisco routers/switches in order to better integrate with Configuration Management tools.

SSH Proxy support  --  Users can connect to DMZ devices via the SSH protocol transparently through the ZoneRanger®/Ranger Gateway.

VLAN Trunking support  --  With ZoneRanger® 4.1, users can deploy a unit in a VLAN trunking environment.  This allows ZoneRanger® to manage devices across multiple separate VLANs.

ZoneRanger®
Installed at the remote location with devices that need to be managed, ZoneRanger® 4.1 discovers the network and builds a topology database using Tavve’s patented technology. ZoneRanger® 4.1 has user-configurable controls to allow more command of what is being managed in untrusted areas of the network.  It provides fault management services such as status polling via ICMP, SNMP, and TCP.  The polling feature provides the network manager with the ability to see if a device is “up” or “down.”  Failures are processed by Tavve’s root cause analysis technology to determine the source of the fault.  The root cause is forwarded securely and reliably to the NMS via SNMP traps. ZoneRanger® 4.1 can SNMP proxy to the devices through the firewall to retrieve SNMP MIB data that can be used for reporting purposes.

ZoneRanger® 4.1 passes information through your trusted firewalls with a single encrypted port, allowing for the flow of information to be secure and protected.
