Amerigo is an easy-to-use tool for automatically building and customizing network topology maps for HP OpenView Network Node Manager (NNM).

By means of an intuitive user interface, Amerigo enables network administrators to build and populate ovw maps based on attributes such as device type, vendor, agent, or location, and then publish these maps to network operators. By running continuously in the background, Amerigo detects when there are network changes, and then automatically updates the corresponding network topology maps. Amerigo virtually eliminates the tedious and time-consuming process of manually customizing and administering network topology maps, submaps, symbols, and container objects; ensures that network topology maps are accurate and up-to-date; and permits network topology maps to be saved, reused, and quickly rebuilt.

Amerigo saves you time and money, improves the accuracy of your network topology maps, allows you to centralize map control and administration, and is easy to learn and use. Its simple "point-and-click" interface means that no training is required.

Amerigo 2.2 New Features

  • Enhanced syntax of the Amerigo rules to change the "FROM" syntax to allow a "!" in front of the file specification indicating to take the STDOUT of the command instead of the contents of the file
  • Optimized the current code to determine connections more efficiently
  • Introduced sub-net symbols to the Amerigo/Amerigo connector code to prevent confusion created when multiple items on the same subnet were all connected to each other
  • Added a smart update run-time menu and command-line option to rescan only the changed submaps
  • Added a command line option that allows the user to specify the name of a container to scan using the symbol label or submap name
  • Process interface objects as well as node objects in connector algorithm
  • Separates out the configuration tool from the complete Amerigo install that can be installed on a separate supported platform

Features

  • Automatic Network Topology Map Building
  • Automatic Network Submap Population
  • OpenView Network Map Integration
  • Graphical Configuration Tools

Benefits

Saves Time

Virtually eliminates manual customization of network maps, submaps, symbols, and container objects.

Improves Accuracy

Automatic network topology generation reduces errors and typos in a map.

Consistent Network Map Structure

Repeatable network topology rebuild reduces work after scratching and rediscovering the OpenView NNM database.

Improves Control

Centralize network map control and administration.

Consistent User Interface

Provides consistent interface to OpenView Windows for menu bars and icons by administrating network submap contexts.

Saves Time

Virtually eliminates manual Cut/Copy/Paste operations to partition network submaps.

Improves Accuracy

The accuracy of network maps is dramatically improved by automatic device moves. Network submaps are automatically populated without user intervention.

Always Up To Date

Symbols are instantly moved as they are discovered or added. Amerigo retains OpenView object and symbol attributes ensuring synchronization.

Easy To Use

The user interface adheres to the HP OpenView Style Guide.

Easy To Learn

Operates invisibly in the background. No training necessary for OpenView Windows operators.

Tightly Coupled

Automates OpenView submap, symbol, and object attributes.

Reduces Errors

Graphical folder/branch interface makes it easy to build topology levels in a network map

How does ZoneRanger fit into your network?

What others are saying...

"Tavve has developed the ZoneRanger product, in order to enable companies to leverage their centralized management infrastructure across firewall-partitioned networks, while mitigating risks associated with management protocols."

"Without a more secure approach to managing the protocols and tools that manage the network - including the 'trusted' internal network - enterprises may be exposing themselves to more risk than they realize."

Scott Crawford, CISSP, ISSAP, ISSMP
Senior Analyst, Enterprise Management Associates

"ZoneRanger effectively extends the reach of management applications to devices located beyond firewalls, eliminating the need for complicated firewall configurations, extensive agent deployments, or expensive application replication. ZoneRanger also provides security, acting as an application layer proxy firewall, inspecting and validating the traffic relayed between applications and devices.
